BT Sport Collaboration

We’ve been keeping a secret…. In December we were approached to work with BT Sport on their groundbreaking initiative Sign Up! , an opportunity we jumped at!

The team at BT Sport wanted to create a track specifically for the deaf community, one which was easily recognisable and featured a strong beat. We suggested reimagining a classic - Habanera from Carmen - and playing with the different layers to create something unique, yet still recognisable. This soundtrack would then be used across all media for the Sign Up initiative, you can hear (and see it) it on all of BT’s videos.

The project was two fold, one, to create the track and to have this represented visually and two, to create a behind-the-scenes video of the recording.

In addition to the track selection, Audiovisability were responsible for engaging the deaf community and for recruiting musicians. Key to this was the fact that we wanted to commission deaf musicians to perform this special track, and to do this we recruited Ruth Montgomery (flute), Miriam Dub (djembe) and Alicia Wiseman (violin)

Providing a visual performance was Lucindha Lawson, England Deaf Women’s Futsal Captain who expertly timed her footie skills to the beat of the music.

You can watch the music video featuring Lucindha and the behind-the-scenes video here, just scroll to the bottom of the page.
