Embedded in each and every one of our projects is
Audiovisability’s commitment
to music education and musical forms
with and for deaf young people.
‘Ruth is an exceptional teacher and unfaltering advocate for deaf young people and their rights to access formal music education but also provides the unique opportunity for them to explore musicality on their own terms which she achieves alongside a team of highly experienced deaf artists working in different disciplines.’

Elements of Music: UK
In 2016 Ruth ran a series of workshops at Mary Hare School for the Deaf covering each of the 16 musical elements. Students from each year group;
attended workshops and over the course of 6 days with all students attending at least one workshop
explored Pitch, Composition, Harmony, structures, and for the first time were able to think about music in visual terms
had the opportunity to meet top leading deaf music and art professionals in action, and join workshops for activity and questioning.
In addition, Ruth attended Guildhall School of Music with Saturday school hearing students expanding on the idea of thinking music in visual terms, and creating compositions that relied on translating visual ideas.
