Lucy Dunkerely, Chair

Chair of Audiovisability

Lucy is Associate Director at Border Crossings and leads on their community engagement work.  Border Crossings in response to the contemporary globalised world, creates a theatrical and cultural space in which peoples come together as equals for creativity and dialogue.

Lucy has over 30  year’s experience  leading large scale projects targeting minority communities and disfranchised young people who are traditionally under-represented in the arts.  Lucy also worked for 8 years at the Royal Court, as outreach worker leading playwriting projects for young people, many of which developed into productions and public readings.  She founded Lincolnshire's only theatre company for adults with learning disabilities at Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough when she worked there as Education and Outreach Officer.

She has also worked all over Italy, writing, devising and directing shows for young people, as well as being involved in projects in other parts of the world.

On a personal note, she is a mother of a very musical daughter who is a deaf and studies the violin at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Therefore, she is very keen to see positive changes, opportunities and high music education standards for deaf people.
